It's been a while
It's been a little while since I've posted on here so I thought that I would bring this up to date.
What a wonderful time the last year or so has been! Avril has completed many firsts (sitting up, rolling, crawling and now on the verge of walking) with a multitude more to come. She has me in stitches daily whether it's just her chattering away to her toys, giggling while we're playing together or smearing food all across her face.
We recently took part in an Infant Mother Goose class run by the Ontario Early Years Centre and I have learned many new songs and rhymes to sing and play with her. My existing repertoire was wearing on my nerves a little bit :) I ran across an old song that we used to sing at camp many years ago called The Grand Old Duke of York and Av just loves it when I throw her up in the air while we're singing the song. I also tune into the Treehouse music station that's on my digital cable box to add to the fun. It's funny how the words to songs that I used to sing when I was little come right back to me when I hear the first few notes.
I'm heading back to work in a few weeks and it comes with a little excitement and lots of trepidation. I have found a wonderful woman who lives within walking distance of our house to take Av for the days that we need daycare. She seems very sweet and really loves babies. When I went to interview her I actually left Avril at home with Colin and just went myself to be able to watch her with her existing charges without distraction. I'll take Avril over to meet her a few times before I officially begin work again. The best I can hope for is a smooth transition for all of us.

Family moving within 1 hour!
As long as all goes smoothly with the closing my brother and his family are going to be moving to Burlington soon! It's been a long few years of driving back and forth to see family for birthdays and various celebrations. I'm not complaining because it has always been worth the drive to be able to see my parents, siblings, nieces and nephew, but I can't wait for it to be much shorter (and hopefully more often)! Yipee!

My due date has come and gone
So here I sit waiting....
To be honest I didn't think that I was going to be overdue. I realize that being a few days overdue is not unusual but I just didn't think that it was going to happen to me. In general I am early for things or right on time. It's a rare occasion that we are ever late unless circumstances are beyond our control. I suppose I am going to have to get used to that with a baby coming who is going to rule my world. The only real solace in that thought is knowing that I'm not going to be sitting around waiting, but will be busy trying to get it (and keep it) together. My original plan was to take 3 weeks of holidays before the due date, but as it ends up I took a week in January to chill out and only 2 weeks of holiday leading into maternity leave. Thank goodness for that! I can't imagine this being the beginning of week 4 of no work vs. week 3. There's always the chance that I will be waiting for another week for this little one too!
